Pupils begin each day with a short Tutor
Period, at 8.55 a.m. The day will then be divided into six 50
minute lessons, most of which are taken as single lessons -
although some practical subjects may use "double lessons".
There are four lessons in the morning,
with a fifteen minute break during which drinks and snacks are
available from the canteen.
At lunch times an excellent selection
of meals and hot or cold snacks is provided by the school's
own catering service. During lunch time pupils are looked after by
supervisors and senior staff. Only pupils who are going home to
lunch are allowed off the premises.
The afternoon will begin with a short Tutor
Period. Afternoon lessons continue until 3.35p.m.
There is a whole school assembly
once a week and a separate Lower and Upper School Assembly once
a week. There are also regular Year 7 Assemblies. On other days, Form Tutors lead their Tutor Groups in a
short period of reflection on matters of serious moral and
spiritual thought. These have a broadly Christian base. Parents may by request
withdraw their children from assemblies but since the school takes a
non-denominational and informal approach, this rarely happens.
